Wildeck-based CST Transporte buys a 200 t Grove for precast and energy work
German crane rental firm CST Transporte has added a 200 t capacity Grove GMK5200-1 to a fleet that already includes a GMK4090-1, citing the machine’s ability to travel on site with its full 70 t counterweight.
A second Grove for Wildeck
CST Transporte, based in Wildeck, has taken delivery of a new Grove GMK5200-1 all-terrain crane supplied through dealer KranAgentur Werner. The 200 t capacity machine joins a GMK4090-1 already in the company’s fleet, and will be used across construction, precast concrete installation, engineering and energy projects.
Counterweight on the move
The purchase decision turned on two things. The first was straightforward lifting performance for handling and setting heavy precast concrete elements. The second, and the one CST singles out, is the crane’s ability to drive around a jobsite carrying its full 70 t counterweight. On sites where a crane has to relocate between picks, not having to strip and re-rig ballast each time removes a substantial slice of unproductive hours.
The crane was specified with an 18 m hydraulic bi-fold swingaway jib to broaden the range of work it can take on, a working light package with additional LED lamps to illuminate the area around the crane, and storage boxes on both the superstructure and the carrier for slings and lifting accessories.
Telematics and back-up
CST Transporte will use the crane’s built-in Grove CONNECT telematics system for real-time machine data, supporting preventive maintenance and giving the service team visibility of the crane’s condition without a site visit. Manitowoc’s German aftermarket organisation and its mobile service technicians provide the local support network behind the machine.
“The Grove GMK5200-1 is a perfect fit for our operations. Its strong lifting capacities are crucial for our work in concrete and precast construction, and the ability to move the crane when rigged with a full counterweight provides us with a real efficiency gain. With Grove CONNECT™, we also have access to important machine data at all times and benefit from significantly simplified communication with the service team — a clear value add for our daily operations.”

Growing a two-crane Grove fleet
The GMK5200-1 sits a class above the GMK4090-1 already in the fleet, giving CST a pairing that covers both lighter, more mobile work and the heavier precast and energy jobs where capacity at radius is the deciding factor. Alongside crane hire, the company offers a range of construction services supporting projects from planning through to execution, and it describes the latest purchase as a continuation of its investment in Grove equipment.
