Five sizes, four designs and an app: the DVR takes over as Demag’s versatile rope hoist platform
Demag has replaced its DMR rope hoist with the DVR series, spanning five sizes and load capacities from one to 80 tonnes. Assistance and safety functions can be configured through an app.
Compact dimensions, modular build
The DVR range covers hook paths from four to 200 metres across five closely graduated sizes. Demag has worked on both the travel dimensions and the C-dimension so that the hoist makes the most of the available headroom and bay width. Large drum diameters reduce hook travel and support what the company calls true vertical lift, which is what allows precise positioning without the hook wandering as the rope pays off.
The modular design underpins a wide variant range, each of which can be tailored with options to the individual application.
Four designs
The F-DVR foot-mounted hoist takes capacities up to 80 tonnes and is intended for stationary use or as the hoist unit in a special trolley integrated into a prepared steel structure. The EK-DVR is a monorail hoist to 12.5 tonnes with two driven travel wheels and optimised headroom. The EU-DVR standard-headroom travelling hoist has an infinitely variable flange width from 80 to 610 mm, and a curved articulated version, the EUD-DVR, is also available. The EZ-DVR double-rail crab has a short track width and various connection types to the crab beam, which makes it a candidate for modernisations where space is tight.
Two control pendant series, DSB and DST, are offered, alongside options ranging from crane hooks and brakes to radio control.
Configuration levels
The DVR is sold in tiers. An entry-level contactor-controlled version with a limited option list addresses price-sensitive users with simple lifting tasks. Above it, frequency inverters give stepless travel, with the OWL and ELM electronic modules handling condition monitoring and electronic load management. The next level adds an interface to an app for status monitoring, and the top configuration uses the Demag DMI inverter series for continuously variable hoisting and travel speeds.
The ProHub function raises speed with no or partial load and slows for precise positioning at full load; ProHub ASR gives continuously variable lifting, and ProHub ESR with closed loop delivers maximum performance at rated and partial loads.
Assistance functions
The OWL or DMU control units monitor operating conditions and carry the assistance functions: slack rope monitoring, a Follow me mode in which the load is guided by hand at the hook, tandem control of two DVR hoists from one control unit, by-pass control for blocked areas, hook centring above the load, area-related load reduction and load-sway reduction.
