A second 220-tonne rope crane for Dutch Offshore’s maritime lifting fleet
Dutch Offshore Cranes has taken delivery of its second Sennebogen 6220 HD, a 220-tonne duty cycle crane the Nederhorst den Berg contractor will put to work on offshore heavy lifts, subsea cable handling and dredging contracts.
Second 220-tonne machine for offshore work
The handover took place on 7 May 2026 and adds a second 6220 HD to a fleet built specifically for work on and around water. Dutch Offshore Cranes (DO) operates internationally from Nederhorst den Berg in the Netherlands, taking on offshore heavy-lift contracts, subsea cable handling and complex maritime logistics projects. It has run Sennebogen machines for many years.
Present at the ceremony were Erich Sennebogen, Dutch Offshore chief executive Michiel Zwagerman, Van den Heuvel chief executive Marc Timmerman and Van den Heuvel commercial manager Rienk Nadema. Van den Heuvel is Sennebogen’s official sales partner in the Netherlands and handles configuration, commissioning and technical support for the operator.
One platform, several jobs
The attraction of the 6220 HD for a company of this type is configurability. Rated at up to 220 tonnes, the rope-operated machine can be rigged for conventional lifting duty, for dredging, or for work from floating units, which matters when a single barge deck has to cover several phases of a contract. Internally, Dutch Offshore describes the machine as the “Swiss Army knife” of its offshore fleet – one base unit that can be reconfigured rather than several specialised ones.
Dutch Offshore says the investment decision rested as much on service and support as on the load chart. Robust structures, service-friendly layouts and components that keep running in salt-water conditions were cited as the deciding factors, alongside how quickly manufacturer, dealer and operator resolve problems together once a machine is on hire.

A growing Sennebogen line-up
The new crane joins a fleet that already includes 7700, 6300 HD, 6113 R, 6180 and 5500 models as well as the first 6220 HD. Zwagerman confirmed that further purchases are planned: “And we will continue to invest in Sennebogen machines in the future,” he said.
Sennebogen marked the handover with a commissioned wooden pillar carrying a lit sphere and the logos of all three companies, a nod to the projects completed together to date. For Dutch Offshore the practical outcome is straightforward: a second heavy rope crane means two large lifting units can be committed to separate international projects at the same time.
