Semiconductor plants keep getting taller: Xin-Hong buys a 90-metre-boom LTM 1300-6.3
Xin-Hong Crane Engineering has taken its third Liebherr crane and its first 300-tonner. The LTM 1300-6.3 was chosen for hook height in Taiwan’s science parks, where production buildings keep growing.
The first 300-tonne crane in the fleet
Taiwanese crane rental company Xin-Hong Crane Engineering Co., Ltd. has taken delivery of an LTM 1300-6.3, the third Liebherr machine in its fleet and the first in the 300-tonne class. The six-axle crane becomes the company’s flagship.
What drove the choice was reach rather than raw capacity. The LTM 1300-6.3 carries a 90-metre telescopic boom, and can travel with it on public roads at a twelve-tonne axle load – a meaningful point for a rental fleet that has to move between jobs without a large accompanying transport operation. Compact ballasting via VarioBallast and the VarioBase variable support base were also on the list of reasons.
Working in the science parks
Taiwan’s semiconductor and microchip production facilities are getting taller, and with them the hook heights required to build and maintain them.

Wu also frames the purchase as an asset decision: the new machine is a flagship for the fleet with, in his assessment, considerable resale value.
The machine is also positioned as an economical, fast-erecting crane: the long telescopic boom does the work that would otherwise require rigged extensions, and the variable ballast and support arrangements keep it usable on constrained plots inside industrial facilities.
From one forklift to 120 employees
Xin-Hong started in 2003 with a single forklift truck. The business expanded into conventional transport work and now employs 120 people across Taiwan and China, combining routine lifting jobs with more demanding crane work. Its first Liebherr crane, an LTM 1230-5.1, arrived in 2023 – making the LTM 1300-6.3 a rapid follow-up.
On the relationship with the manufacturer, Wu is brief: “Liebherr is simply the best. Not only their cranes, but also their after-sales service.”
