A mobile construction crane for the Intermountain West
Wagstaff Crane Service has taken delivery of a Liebherr MK 140-5.1 mobile construction crane at Conexpo 2026 in Las Vegas, adding a compact five-axle machine to a fleet of more than 70 units.
A first for the Rockies fleet
Wagstaff Crane Service took the handover of an MK 140-5.1 at Conexpo 2026, North America’s largest construction trade show. The company has been supplying crane services across the Intermountain West for more than 60 years and runs what it describes as the most complete line of hydraulic cranes in its region, with projects spread across several market sectors.
The MK series is aimed at exactly the conditions Wagstaff works in: complex sites and tight footprints, in mountainous terrain where access is often the limiting factor.
Why a mobile construction crane
Liebherr’s mobile construction cranes sit between a mobile crane and a tower crane. They can relocate several times in a day without dedicated transport logistics, they set up and operate under the control of a single person, and they combine long boom lengths with useful capacity at the jib tip – which is what makes work over projecting edges practical. They also run quietly and, on site power, without emissions, which matters for urban and night work.
The MK 140-5.1E is a compact five-axle model that delivers performance in its class previously associated with cranes on more axles. Its Hybrid Power Concept allows operation from site power, and it is approved for HVO fuels.
