UNIC puts the spotlight on its smallest spider crane, the URW-094

At 595 mm wide, UNIC’s URW-094 takes almost a tonne where no other crane fits

UNIC Cranes Europe has turned the spotlight on the URW-094, the baby of its spider crane line-up. Described by the company as the world’s smallest and lightest mini crawler crane, it fits through a standard doorframe and still lifts 995 kg.

Through the doorframe

Folded, the URW-094 measures 1,870 mm long, 595 mm wide and 1,290 mm high, so it can be tracked through a standard doorway and into building interiors, narrow side passages and back gardens that no other crane can reach. At 1,000 kg it moves easily between sites, and its rubber tracks spread that weight to a ground pressure of just 36.3 kPa, protecting floors, paving and lawns. Optional low-marking tracks are available for delicate interior surfaces, and the undercarriage travels at up to 2.2 km/h and climbs gradients of up to 20 degrees.

Close to a tonne on the hook

With its outriggers at maximum extension the crane lifts its full 995 kg at a 1.5 m radius and still handles 800 kg at 2 m. The four-section hydraulic boom telescopes from 1.73 m to 5.49 m, giving a 5.6 m maximum hook height and a working radius of up to 5.17 m; at full boom it takes 660 kg at 2.4 m. The boom extends its 3.76 m stroke in around 17 seconds and derricks from flat to 78 degrees in about 6.5 seconds, with continuous 360-degree slew. The multi-position outriggers can be set to suit the space available, with rated loads published for every configuration so lifts can be planned around whatever footprint the site allows.

Petrol or LPG, with radio remote as standard

Power comes from a 5.5 kW Mitsubishi petrol engine, with an optional LPG dual-fuel system for indoor and enclosed work. Radio remote control is fitted as standard, letting the operator pick the clearest vantage point, while an intelligent throttle raises engine speed only when needed to cut fuel use and noise. Safety equipment includes a computer-controlled voice warning system, an overwinding alarm and automatic hook stow; UNIC limits use to wind speeds below 36 km/h.

UNIC pitches the machine at glass and cladding installation, steelwork, interior refurbishment and plant positioning in basements and plant rooms. The URW-094 is available for rental or purchase through the company’s dealer network across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
