Link-Belt Cranes singled out in Kentucky Manufacturing Month

Kentucky manufacturers’ association puts Link-Belt’s Lexington crane factory in the spotlight

The Kentucky Association of Manufacturers has singled out Link-Belt Cranes in its October Manufacturing Month campaign, spotlighting the Lexington plant where the company welds, machines, builds and tests its telescopic and lattice crawler cranes.

October campaign

The Kentucky Association of Manufacturers (KAM) opened its Manufacturing Month campaign on 1 October with a social-media feature on Link-Belt Cranes, one of the state’s best-known machinery builders. The association’s post showed the four stages the manufacturer organises its Lexington production around – welding, machining, build and test – alongside shots from the factory floor and a crane leaving the plant.

For Link-Belt the nod is a welcome piece of recognition for a site that supplies telescopic truck, rough terrain and all terrain cranes as well as lattice crawlers to customers in North America and export markets.

Workforce and production systems

Richard Shultz, Link-Belt’s vice president of manufacturing, used the occasion to underline where the company is putting its effort.

“As Vice President of Manufacturing at Link-Belt Cranes, I am proud to support American manufacturing from our headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky. My focus is helping our teams safely build world-class cranes by developing our workforce and strengthening our production systems, supply chains, and quality processes that make success possible.”

— Richard Shultz, vice president of manufacturing, Link-Belt Cranes

“Whether supporting operations in Kentucky or serving customers across the United States and around the world, I am committed to advancing manufacturing excellence and creating opportunities for future generations.”

— Richard Shultz, vice president of manufacturing, Link-Belt Cranes

Lexington base

Link-Belt has designed and built its cranes in Lexington for decades, and the city remains the company’s headquarters, engineering centre and principal manufacturing site. Manufacturing Month runs throughout October, with KAM featuring member companies from across the state.
