J. Helaakoski orders two battery-powered Spierings mobile tower cranes for Finland
Finnish crane rental company J. Helaakoski has placed an order for two Spierings SK1265-AT6 eLift mobile tower cranes, converting a successful rental trial of the type into its first purchase of the Dutch manufacturer’s battery-powered six-axle machines.
The order follows a period in which Helaakoski ran an SK1265-AT6 on a rental basis. According to Spierings, the combination of one-man operation, fast set-up and the battery-powered eLift drive proved its worth in day-to-day work, prompting the family-owned rental company to invest in two cranes of its own.
Six axles, 60 metres of jib
The SK1265-AT6 is the largest folding mobile tower crane in the Spierings road-going range, carrying a 60 m jib with a maximum capacity of 10 tonnes and a tip load of 1.7 tonnes. The crane travels fully self-contained: counterweight, jib sections and outrigger mats all ride on the six-axle carrier, so no support transport is needed. A single operator drives, rigs and runs the crane, and erection takes around 11 minutes.
With the eLift system, the crane lifts fully electrically from a 16 A or 32 A site connection, backed up by an on-board battery pack — cutting fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions and noise on site.
Building a Finnish foothold
“We are proud that J. Helaakoski has chosen to invest in two new Spierings cranes following their positive experience with our technology. We see great potential in the Finnish market. Our efficient one-man operation concept, combined with battery-powered eLift technology, is ideally suited to Finnish construction sites.”
— Jeroen Kerkhoff, Area Sales Manager Scandinavia, Belgium and Asia, Spierings Mobile Cranes
“We are excited to take the next step in our cooperation with Spierings. We see significant potential for battery-powered mobile tower cranes in Finland and have experienced the many advantages of the Spierings concept in practice. As two family-owned companies sharing the same core values, we look forward to building a successful long-term partnership.”
— Tomi Sulonen, CEO, J. Helaakoski
