Pylons on the Programme: Schlamann Collects the First of Four New Liebherr Mobile Cranes

Schlamann-Autokrane has taken delivery of a new Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1, growing its fleet to 23 mobile cranes — with three more machines from Ehingen to follow before the end of the year.

Built for height

The 230-tonne crane’s 75-metre telescopic boom makes it a natural fit for jobs at great hook heights: erecting tower cranes, maintaining wind turbines and, above all, building electricity pylons. Managing director Torsten Schlamann — who collected the crane in Ehingen together with his daughter Katharina, the family firm’s third generation — points out that the long boom often makes a lattice extension unnecessary, cutting set-up times.

Energy infrastructure as growth market

Pylon erection work has grown steadily with the energy transition, and Schlamann expects that trend to continue for years. The LTM 1230-5.1 joins a fleet whose largest machine is an LTM 1300-6.3 delivered last year.

“Liebherr is a reliable partner for us. The cranes impress with their high quality and long-term value. We particularly appreciate the personal approach and the relationship built on trust.”

Three more to come

Schlamann has already ordered three further Liebherr cranes for delivery this year, including the new LTM 1055-3.3, whose low axle loads allow many jobs to run without complex road permits — even with full counterweight on board.
