Ehingen / Donau (Germany) October 2017 – A Liebherr crawler crane, at the port of Coruña in Spain, moves concrete blocks weighing up to 180 tonnes like the bricks in a child’s toy. Transportes y Grúas Aguado’s new LR 11000 is the first crane of this type in the country. It is also the largest crawler crane sold to Spain in the last six years.
Crane and transport contractor Transportes y Grúas Aguado S.L. based in Madrid purchased the heavy duty crawler crane from Liebherr in August 2017. “The sophisticated design of the LR 11000 makes it perfect for a wide range of possible uses. The other main reasons for buying the crane included Liebherr’s reliable service and the short lead time”, says Juan Aguado, odour of Transportes y Grúas Aguado. The LR 11000 with a maximum lifting capacity of 1000 tonnes covers a wide range of applications with its large number of boom versions. Thanks to its compact design, it is also perfect for use in constricted site conditions.
Transportes y Grúas Aguado S.L. will mainly be using the new LR 11000 for infrastructure projects and for jobs in petrochemicals and general industry. In the future, the erection of wind turbines will also be added to its list of jobs if there is a demand. The crawler crane has already successfully completed its first job – the Liebherr LR 11000 moved 36 concrete blocks weighing up to 180 tonnes at the port of Punta Langosteira in Coruña. The project was completed in just five days. The working radius of the heavy duty crane with its 84-metre main boom and suspended ballast was between 50 and 60 metres.
Transportes y Grúas Aguado S.L. was founded in 1982 and has maintained a long term partnership with Liebherr. The company currently has 50 Liebherr cranes with lifting capacities of between 30 and 1000 tonnes.
