Jandt enters the 400-tonne class with its first Liebherr LTM 1400-6.1

Until now the German rental company’s largest units were a pair of LTM 1250-5.1 all-terrain cranes, backed by two MK 140-5.1 mobile construction cranes. Heavier jobs meant bringing in partner companies – a limit the new machine is intended to remove.

Compact six-axle with self-rigging Y-guying

Jandt cites the crane’s compact dimensions for its class, its load charts and the self-assembly of the Y-guying system as the decisive factors. Liebherr has arranged the telescopic guying so that fewer rigging steps are needed and less of the work takes place at height, while dedicated access routes and platforms and the automatic LIKUFIX coupling system further reduce risk for the crew during set-up.

The crane has already proved itself on its maiden assignment, placing a 60-tonne transformer station in Bad Laer.

Work it used to hire in

With the LTM 1400-6.1 on its own books, Jandt expects to take on projects for which it previously had to sub-hire cranes of this size. Lübeck sees the main openings in industry, infrastructure schemes, energy-transition projects and overhead line construction, a sector the company has served for several years.

Third-generation family firm

Jandt traces its roots to 1950, when the business started out in haulage and excavation, and has been run by the second generation since its re-establishment in 1998, with the third generation already involved. The fleet today counts 18 mobile cranes and four loader cranes, plus four Liebherr mobile construction cranes – two MK 140-5.1 and two MK 88-4.1 units – used chiefly in industrial and hall construction. Lübeck says Liebherr’s innovation, service standard, operating economics and the long-standing relationship between the two companies settled the purchasing decision once again.
