Jekko goes bigger with the JF1050, a 22-tonne articulated crawler crane on a decagonal boom
Jekko has launched the JF1050, the largest articulated crawler crane it has built, offering 22 tonnes of lifting capacity and a 34.5 m maximum tip height on a bi-energy diesel and electric driveline.
Boom design and geometry
The JF1050 sits at the top of Jekko’s knuckle boom crawler range. Its boom and telescopic extensions come from Fassi and use an X-Design decagonal section, which the manufacturer says redistributes stress within the structure and lifts the load chart across operating conditions, with the clearest gain in vertical configurations, without adding weight.
Three boom articulations give the crane the option of reaching around obstacles, working over them, or operating at negative angles. Jekko is aiming the machine at industrial maintenance — machinery replacement and plant installation — as well as data centre construction and servicing, food industry material handling and warehouse work, all environments where the working space is tight and crowded.
Bi-energy driveline
Power comes from a combination of a low-emission diesel engine and an integrated electric powerpack, with the operator able to switch between the two: diesel for autonomy outdoors, electric for emission-free work inside a building. A new variable speed engine management system controls engine revs more accurately, which Jekko says produces smoother, faster and more precise movements while cutting fuel use.
Three working modes — Eco, Normal and Power — trade output against consumption, and engine data including revs, fuel level and remaining autonomy are shown on the crane’s main display.
Controls and configuration
That display is a new 7-inch touchscreen rated to IP66. Beyond the usual crane data it shows a live view of the stability area and carries an on-board crane assistant function.
The counterweight is self-removable, which brings the transport weight down and lets the crane work at lower ground pressure on surfaces that will not take a fully ballasted machine. Configuration options include hook or winch lifting, a hydraulic jib, independent hydraulic tools such as grapple saws or beam grabbers, and a man basket for work at height.
