Fresh from the factory, Jenniskens’ Spierings SK2400-R eLift starts work on Oss housing scheme
Jenniskens Kraanverhuur’s brand-new Spierings SK2400-R eLift has travelled only a few kilometres from the factory where it was built to its first job, erecting 74 sustainable apartments for contractor Dura Vermeer at Elzeneindpark in Oss, the Netherlands.
Straight from the production line to the jobsite
The mobile crawler tower crane left the Spierings works in Oss and headed directly for Elzeneindpark, just a short drive away in the same city. There, Dura Vermeer is building 74 gas-free, energy-efficient apartments in two residential blocks on behalf of housing association BrabantWonen.
Spierings makes a point of the short journey: the SK2400-R eLift was produced and assembled entirely at the Oss factory and carries out its first lifts within a radius of just a few kilometres of where it was built.
One crane for the whole project
Crane rental company Jenniskens Kraanverhuur picked the SK2400-R eLift for this project deliberately. The machine pairs the reach of a tower crane with the mobility of a crawler undercarriage, which means it can stay on site for the full duration of the build rather than being swapped for different crane types as the work progresses. That cuts transport movements and keeps the lifting programme on one machine.
The elevated cab also gives the operator a clear view over the site and the load, which the manufacturer highlights as a safety benefit on a busy residential construction site.
Electric lifting on a low-emission site
Sustainability is a stated priority at Elzeneindpark, and Dura Vermeer has set itself targets that cover not just the finished homes but the construction process itself. That dovetails with the Spierings eLift concept, under which lifting operations are carried out electrically, trimming fuel consumption and limiting local emissions and noise during the lift.
For Spierings, which markets the programme as its Mission to Zero-Emission, the delivery is a neat showcase: a crane built in Oss, handed over in Oss and now putting up homes in Oss. For Jenniskens Kraanverhuur it marks the first outing of the latest addition to its fleet.
