Under two metres wide: Kato’s CR-130RV brings joystick control and Stage V power to the CityRange

Kato Works has launched the CR-130RV, a 13-tonne CityRange crane just under two metres wide, aimed at work in confined city sites. It introduces joystick lever control, remote outrigger operation and an EU Stage V engine to the compact end of the range.

Built around the width limit

The defining number on the CR-130RV is not its capacity but its width. At 1.995 m across, the crane slips under the two-metre threshold that governs access to narrow streets, service yards and plant enclosures, and it is that dimension — combined with a 7.465 m overall length — that determines where the machine can earn its living. Kato describes it as among the most compact mobile cranes available.

Capacity is 13 tonnes at a 1.7 m radius. The six-section boom telescopes from 5.3 m to 24.0 m, and a two-section jib of 3.6 m or 5.5 m can be offset between 5° and 60°. Gross vehicle weight is 13,825 kg, split 6,895 kg on the front axle and 6,930 kg on the rear.

New controls and safety kit

Two changes stand out for operators. The crane moves to joystick lever control, and the outriggers can be set from a remote control unit rather than from a fixed panel — a genuine benefit when the machine is boxed in and the operator needs to watch the beams and pads from outside the cab.

Kato also offers safety view camera systems and the Searcher Hook, the offsetting hook attachment the company fits across the CityRange for inserting loads into height-restricted spaces such as warehouses, balconies and soffits.

Emissions

The CR-130RV is powered by a Hino J05E-VA to EU Stage V, which is what makes the model saleable in western Europe and aligns it with the Stage V engines Kato has rolled out across its export range. Headline specifications are as follows:

  • Maximum lifting capacity: 13 t at 1.7 m
  • Boom: 6 sections, 5.3–24.0 m
  • Jib: 3.6 m and 5.5 m, offset 5°–60°
  • Engine: Hino J05E-VA, EU Stage V
  • Overall dimensions: 7.465 m × 1.995 m × 2.870 m
  • Gross vehicle weight: 13,825 kg

Kato positions the CR-130RV as an economical, versatile and strong machine for professional users, and sells it through its distributor network, publishing both a catalogue and a full specification sheet for the model. It sits at the bottom of a CityRange family that runs up to the 25-tonne CR-250RV.
