Kato releases 30-tonne SR-300R rough terrain crane for Asia

Kato adds the SR-300R, a 30-tonne Roughter with EJIB, to its Asian line-up

Kato Works has released the SR-300R, a 30-tonne rough terrain crane aimed at the Asian market. The machine carries a four-section boom reaching 30.5 m and a two-section EJIB, and is powered by a Mitsubishi 6M60.

A 30-tonne Roughter for Asia

Kato has kept the announcement brief, and the SR-300R is presented as a regional model rather than a global launch: the company states only that the crane is being released for the Asian market. That places it in the volume part of the rough terrain sector, where 25 to 35-tonne machines do the bulk of general construction, precast and plant maintenance work across South East Asia.

Main specification

The crane is rated at 30 tonnes at a 3.0 m radius. Its four-section boom telescopes from 9.35 m to 30.5 m, and a two-section EJIB extends from 8.7 m to 13.1 m. Power comes from a Mitsubishi 6M60.

The inclusion of the EJIB is the point worth noting. Kato uses the designation for its hydraulically deployed luffing jib system, which the manufacturer has progressively worked down through its range from the larger Roughters; on a 30-tonne crane it removes a good deal of the manual work normally involved in swinging a jib into position.

Kato has not published further detail on the SR-300R and refers enquiries to its overseas marketing department.
