Kato renews 220-tonne KA-2200R all terrain crane with Stage V engine

Same performance, cleaner carrier

The KA-2200R first went on sale in 2018 as part of Kato’s all terrain range. According to the Tokyo-based manufacturer, the updated machine carries over the lifting performance of the current model unchanged, while the carrier receives a new environmentally focused engine supplied by Daimler that complies with the latest European Stage V exhaust emission regulation.

Alongside the new powertrain, Kato has made a side collision warning system standard equipment on the crane. The machine has also been designated an ultra-low-noise construction machine by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

On sale from September

Sales begin in September 2026, with a suggested retail price starting at ¥422 million excluding tax, depending on equipment. Kato is aiming to sell four units a year. Detailed specifications and performance data will be published on the company’s website to coincide with the sales launch.

The manufacturer says the update fits its wider goal of combining class-leading safety with environmentally conscious product development across its crane range.
