Rented Link-Belt TCC-1200 swaps bridge steel over Redoak Creek in Ohio
A 120-US-ton Link-Belt TCC-1200 telescopic crawler is handling both demolition and new girder picks on the US Route 52 bridge replacement at Ripley, Ohio, lifting steel sections of up to 20,000 lb fully rigged.
Complete General Construction of Columbus, Ohio, is running the 110-tonne telescopic crawler on the two-lane crossing over Redoak Creek, a tributary of the Ohio River. The machine was rented from Columbus Equipment Company, Link-Belt’s distributor for the state.
Working from a below-grade creek bottom
The TCC-1200’s brief covers both ends of the job: supporting demolition of the old steel bridge structure and placing the new steel girder sections that replace it. The heaviest picks come in at around 20,000 lb (just over 9 tonnes) fully rigged.
Rather than working from the road, the crawler has been positioned on both sides of the below-grade creek bottom, moving across as alternating lanes of the bridge are closed for demolition ahead of the new girders going in. Traffic keeps flowing throughout: the crossing is reduced to a single lane with temporary signals between US 52 and Cherry Street.
Fall 2026 completion
The bridge replacement is an Ohio Department of Transportation project with an estimated cost of USD 5.1 million. ODOT has scheduled completion for the autumn of 2026, which puts the TCC-1200 on the job through the final girder placements this season.
The TCC-1200 is one of the more common telescopic crawlers on American infrastructure work, combining a 120-US-ton rating with the pick-and-carry travel that suits phased bridge jobs where the crane has to reposition repeatedly on unprepared ground.
