From night-time stand build to airport facade: Maeda’s Taiwan trip beyond the show floor
A Maeda MK3053C knuckle boom crane has been working on the curtain wall installation at Terminal 3 of Taoyuan International Airport, a job the manufacturer visited after exhibiting in Taiwan last autumn.

Maeda’s team called at the Terminal 3 construction site once the Taiwan International Agricultural Machinery and Materials Exhibition had closed. There the MK3053C was being used to install part of the terminal’s curtain wall, handling elements the manufacturer put at roughly 100 to 300 kg.
Those weights are modest by crane standards, and that is precisely the point. Facade work on a terminal building is governed not by capacity but by access, floor loading and placement accuracy. A large mobile crane cannot reach into the finished structure, and the panels have to be presented to the frame slowly and without swing. A tracked knuckle boom crane that can be driven through the works, set up on outriggers on a slab and controlled by radio remote from a position where the operator can see the panel meets that brief far better than a bigger machine would.
Getting the stand ready
The visit report also covered the preparation that precedes any exhibition appearance. Maeda said its machines were delivered to the Yunlin showground the day before the exhibition opened and were tested well into the night before the doors opened.
That is routine but rarely photographed work: unloading, tracking machines into position on soft ground, rigging booms, running function checks and confirming that every limiter and remote is behaving before a public demonstration programme starts.
Show machines also have to arrive clean and complete. Any damage found on the stand cannot be repaired locally at short notice, which is why manufacturers send their own technicians rather than leaving the build to the distributor alone.
Background
The MK3053C is Maeda’s articulated knuckle boom crane, sold as an export model since 2024 and launched on the Japanese domestic market in August 2025. Maeda’s Taiwanese distributor is Taiwan Honest Sky Co., Ltd, which showed six Maeda machines at the Yunlin exhibition in October 2025.
