Manitowoc lines up new high-capacity Potain luffer and 2027 flat-top preview for Bauma China 2026
Manitowoc will use Bauma China 2026 in Shanghai to announce a new high-capacity Potain luffing jib crane and give an early look at a large flat-top model planned for 2027, alongside the new K1000A heavy-duty mast and fresh jobsite technology.
The manufacturer exhibits at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from 24 to 27 November under the theme “Complete Lifting Solutions. Trusted Every Day”, with a programme of product announcements, educational sessions, customer celebrations and industry forums planned at its stand.
New luffer now, big flat-top to follow
The headline act is the full reveal of a major new Potain luffing jib crane, which Manitowoc will pair with an exclusive preview of a next-generation, high-capacity flat-top crane scheduled for launch in 2027. Supporting both is the newly developed Potain K1000A mast, a 3.45 x 3.45 m heavy-duty section intended for the popular MCT 2205 and for one of the upcoming high-capacity cranes. It is offered as an alternative to the 4 x 4 m mast sections currently used under Potain’s heavy-duty tower cranes. The MCT 2205, built in China, lifts a maximum of 80 tonnes and reaches a jib length of 85 m.
“At this year’s bauma CHINA 2026 we will show how emerging markets are playing a critical role in Manitowoc’s global business. As customer requirements evolve, lifting solutions must extend beyond the crane to include responsive service, parts support, energy solutions, technical expertise, and lifecycle support.”
— Brian Wang, president of Emerging Markets, Manitowoc
Technology and aftermarket on the stand
Beyond the new hardware, Manitowoc will show a range of digital and intelligent jobsite technologies, including the new ECS (Ergo Control System) for tower cranes, anti-collision systems, cameras and monitoring equipment. Potain Power Solutions, the company’s energy packages for tower crane operation, will also feature, together with Grove and Potain digital tools and the wider parts, service and lifecycle support offering that the group is positioning as central to crane ownership.
Industry forum
On 26 November the company hosts an hour-long industry forum at its stand, bringing together Manitowoc leadership, dealers, rental companies and customers to discuss economic trends, urbanisation, infrastructure investment, sustainability demands and workforce challenges in emerging markets. Manitowoc can be found at booth A.38.
