Chile’s MPM signs at bauma for the first fully electric Tadano rough terrain crane in the Pan-American region
Chilean crane and lifting contractor MPM has become the first customer in the Pan-American region to order the Tadano EVOLT eGR-1000XLL-1, the battery-electric version of the company’s 100-tonne class rough terrain crane.

MPM — Mantención, Proyectos y Montajes — has ordered a Tadano EVOLT eGR-1000XLL-1, becoming the first buyer of the fully electric rough terrain crane anywhere in the Pan-American region. The order was placed at bauma in Munich, where the deal was signed with Tadano representatives present at the handover ceremony.
The eGR-1000XLL-1 is the electric counterpart to Tadano’s GR-1000XLL-1 rough terrain crane. Tadano’s position on the machine is that it delivers the lifting performance customers expect from a conventional rough terrain crane while running with zero exhaust emissions and lower noise — the two characteristics that decide whether a crane can work indoors, at night, or inside emission-restricted zones.
Sold through TREX
The crane was sold to MPM by TREX, a regional distributor of lifting equipment.

For a Chilean contractor the calculation is not purely environmental. Mining, industrial maintenance and urban work all bring constraints on fumes and noise, and an electric crane that matches the diesel machine’s chart removes the usual trade-off between compliance and capability.
A first for the region

MPM says the crane will be deployed on upcoming projects across the region. Tadano has since put the eGR-1000XLL-1 on its North American show stand at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, alongside the electric 25EL pick-and-carry crane, indicating that the model is being pushed well beyond a single early adopter.
