Zoomlion delivers second LW2800A-200NA wind power tower crane for mountain wind farm in Thailand

Zoomlion has handed over a second LW2800A-200NA wind power tower crane to a returning Thai customer at its Changde factory, with the 200-tonne-capacity machine bound for a mountain wind farm on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand.

The handover took place on 11 August at Zoomlion’s tower crane factory in Changde, Hunan province, where Huang Jianbing, vice president of Zoomlion and general manager of its Construction Hoisting Machinery Branch, presented a symbolic golden key to the customer’s representative. The crane is the second LW2800A-200NA the Thai buyer has ordered; the first made the model’s overseas debut in 2024 on the Chaiyaphum wind farm project, and its performance there prompted the repeat purchase.

Built for turbine erection in the mountains

The LW2800A-200NA is a luffing tower crane developed specifically for erecting wind turbines, and Zoomlion says its combination of lifting performance, wind resistance and a compact footprint suits the terrain the Thai machine will face. It offers a maximum hook height of 216 metres and lifts up to 200 tonnes under the hook, while remaining operational in wind speeds of up to 20 m/s – a useful margin for coastal and upland sites.

Ground-side demands are modest for a crane of this size. The outriggers span 18 x 18 metres, the minimum working area is 30 x 50 metres and the required ground bearing capacity is just 0.1 MPa, which the manufacturer says allows the crane to be set up on farmland, mountainsides and even swampy ground. Thanks to an integrated design, dismantling the crane, moving it and re-erecting it at the next turbine position takes 2.5 days.

Five years of wind power tower cranes

Zoomlion built its first wind power tower crane in 2021, at the time the largest wind-power luffing tower crane in the world. The LW2800A-200NA followed in 2025 as what the company then described as the world’s tallest wind power tower crane, before the larger LW3600-240NB took over that claim when it was unveiled in 2026. Over the past five years the manufacturer’s wind power tower cranes have worked on close to 100 wind farms across hills, mountains, farmland, lakes and plains, completing more than 1,000 ultra-high tower lifts.

At the ceremony both parties said they intend to deepen their cooperation in wind power hoisting, and Zoomlion is positioning the delivery as further proof that its tower crane approach to turbine erection is winning acceptance beyond China’s borders.
