Six cranes in two years: Magruber builds a young fleet in Mexico City

Building the youngest fleet in the city

Magruber, a crane rental company based in Mexico City, has added six new Liebherr mobile cranes over the past two years. All sit in the 120 to 230-tonne range, a class that covers most of the industrial and infrastructure lifting the company handles in and around the capital. A larger crane has since been ordered and is due to join the fleet as its new flagship by the end of 2024.

The current line-up runs to twelve medium-sized mobile cranes, among them three recently delivered LTM 1120-4.1s, an LTM 1150-5.3, an LTM 1160-5.2 and a 230-tonne LTM 1230-5.1.

Compact dimensions ranked alongside capacity

Berumen is explicit that load charts were not the only criterion. Alongside lifting capacity and boom length, the company weighed up the physical footprint of each machine – a decisive point in a dense city where set-up space is often the binding constraint.

VarioBase allows the outriggers to be extended individually, so the crane can still work where a full support base will not fit; VarioBallast varies the ballast radius for the same reason. Every crane in the recent order was specified with a double folding jib to widen the range of jobs each machine can take on without additional rigging.

Local support as part of the deal
