XCMG’s XCA3000BR reaches Argentina as China’s largest wheeled crane export yet

XCMG has delivered an XCA3000BR wheeled crane in Buenos Aires — the biggest wheeled crane China has ever exported — with crane industry guests from five South American countries watching the handover.

Chinese crane maker XCMG has handed over an XCA3000BR wheeled crane in Buenos Aires, the largest-tonnage wheeled crane the country’s industry has ever exported. Crane industry representatives from Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela and Mexico travelled to Argentina to attend the handover ceremony.

Repeat customer region

The delivery is not the XCA3000BR’s first trip across the Pacific. XCMG says the model has gone to South American customers on several occasions since 2024, each shipment extending the company’s own record for China’s largest-tonnage wheeled crane export. The unit now delivered is, according to the manufacturer, the largest-tonnage wheeled crane working anywhere in the South American market.

Wind power pulls demand upward

Argentina’s expanding wind power sector is the main driver behind the demand for ultra-heavy lifting capacity. XCMG has grown its crane offering in the region from 160-tonne machines to the 3,000-tonne class, aiming the XCA3000BR at large wind, mining and infrastructure projects. The country’s long distances and rough site conditions make relocation between jobs a recurring headache for local crane operators, and the manufacturer says it has adapted the machine accordingly, pairing ultra-large lifting capacity with roadability across difficult terrain after rounds of technical exchanges and site assessments with the customer.

Filling a gap

“Delivery of the 3,000-tonne-class crane fills the gap in Argentina’s ultra-large-tonnage lifting market. XCMG’s strong product strength and comprehensive localized service support give us full confidence in future cooperation. We look forward to deepening our strategic partnership and jointly supporting Argentina’s industrialization.”

XCMG did not name the buyer, but says the deal followed multiple rounds of technical exchanges, project demonstrations and on-site condition assessments as part of its localisation push in the country.
