Offshore Summit 2026: operators and Liebherr talk next-generation offshore cranes in Rostock
Liebherr hosted its Offshore Summit 2026 at the maritime crane plant in Rostock, drawing operators and partners from across the international offshore industry — with the fully electric BOS 4600 E offshore crane available for close inspection at the test facility.
The gathering brought customers and partners together to weigh up the challenges, technological trends and future requirements facing the offshore sector, which the manufacturer describes as being in constant change. Beyond the conference programme, guests at the Rostock site could examine the BOS 4600 E in detail — Liebherr’s fully electric board offshore crane — during a visit to the test facility.
Workshops on the next crane generation
Alongside specialist talks and technical presentations, the emphasis fell on direct exchange between crane operators and industry experts. In interactive workshops, participants worked through the industry’s likely directions and developed ideas for the next generation of offshore cranes, setting out their expectations on efficiency, availability and service. The role of holistic, networked solutions in offshore operations was another recurring discussion point.
Manufacturer-operator cooperation
According to Liebherr, the summit underlined how closely manufacturers and operators need to work together to tackle the sector’s challenges and push innovative solutions forward. The company says the direct dialogue with industry professionals provided important impetus for the further development of its offshore crane programme.
