Jekko adds an export manager as it targets rental and selected overseas markets
Jekko has appointed Kees Hoogendoorn as export manager, a new role focused on developing the rental segment and a shortlist of international markets that the Italian mini crane builder wants to approach directly.
The remit
Hoogendoorn joins with a background in business development and international sales across several industries. At Jekko he will concentrate on specific business areas — the rental sector is named explicitly — as well as selected international markets, working alongside the company’s dealer network rather than replacing it.
Why now
The appointment follows several years of expansion at the Ponte di Piave manufacturer, which has been adding country operations and exclusive dealers across Europe and beyond. Management frames the new role as the next stage of that growth: with the distribution network in place, the aim is to build dedicated capability for segments and territories that need a different commercial approach.
“In recent years, Jekko has experienced significant growth, supported by an increasingly strong and well-structured dealer network capable of providing timely sales consultancy and skilled and efficient on-site service. The next step is to further evolve our organization by focusing on dedicated business and markets requiring a tailored approach. Kees’ appointment is fully aligned with this strategic direction.”

Fit with the sales team
Sales director Alberto Franceschini, who will work with the new export manager, said the decision was quick once the two had met.
“When I met Kees the first time, I was impressed by his work ethic and his approach to the sales. I immediately thought he would be the right person for some major projects we have in mind. We found common ground regarding our business approach, sales strategy, and shared goals, so reaching an agreement was quick and easy. Kees’ international mindset, cultural awareness and ability to operate in complex global environments represent a valuable asset for our organization.”

The rental focus is the notable part of the brief. Compact tracked cranes and minipickers have been moving steadily from owner-operator fleets into general rental catalogues, and manufacturers that want shelf space there generally have to sell to a different buyer, with different expectations on residuals, serviceability and training, than the specialist contractor who has traditionally bought this equipment.
