LTM 1230-5.1 heads Liebherr’s crane presence at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026

Liebherr is showing its five-axle LTM 1230-5.1 mobile crane at bauma CONEXPO INDIA in Greater Noida this week, presenting the long-boom machine as a tool for tower crane erection and wind turbine maintenance in India’s fast-growing infrastructure market.

The trade fair runs from 15 to 18 September at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida, near Delhi. Liebherr has taken a 792 m² outdoor booth, E01, where the LTM 1230-5.1 stands alongside exhibits from four other product segments, ranging from earthmoving machines to drivetrain components.

Long boom for towers and turbines

For crane users, the LTM 1230-5.1 is the centrepiece. The five-axle all-terrain carries an exceptionally long telescopic boom for its class and, fitted with lattice extensions, reaches lifting heights of up to 111 metres. Liebherr is positioning the crane for exactly the work that is multiplying across India: erecting tower cranes on urban construction sites and carrying out maintenance on wind turbines.

The machine on show is equipped with Liebherr’s VarioBallast and VarioBase systems, which let operators adjust ballast radius and outrigger positions to suit confined site conditions while the load moment limiter calculates capacities for the actual configuration. According to the manufacturer, short set-up times and this kind of configuration flexibility are becoming decisive factors on Indian infrastructure and energy projects.

Reading the local market

Liebherr India sees the show as a listening exercise as much as a shop window.

“Direct discussions with customers give us valuable insight into changing operating conditions and project requirements and help us translate local market requirements into practical machine solutions and services.”

— Sanjay Prasad, Managing Director, Liebherr India Private Limited

The rest of the booth

Beyond the crane, the Liebherr stand covers the group’s breadth: an L 566 wheel loader for quarrying, a PR 736 crawler dozer, an LH 40 M Industry material handler for recycling duty, plus slewing drives and splitter gearboxes from the components division. Of note for crane builders, the slewing drives and splitter gearboxes shown are the same component families used in swivelling mechanisms and power transmission across heavy equipment, with the gearboxes transferring up to 1,120 kW.
