Terex Tower Cranes puts North America under global sales director Lee Maynard
Terex Tower Cranes has widened the remit of global sales director Lee Maynard to cover North America, a market the Italian-built tower crane range has never fully exploited despite a spread of hammerhead, flat top and luffing jib machines already working there.
A single sales lead for a stubborn market
Terex Tower Cranes announced on 6 December 2024 that Lee Maynard, its global sales director, has taken on direct responsibility for North America alongside his existing worldwide role. The manufacturer described the region as critically important and said the change is intended to drive both sales growth and product development there.
North America has long been an awkward market for European tower crane builders. Codes, transport limits and a rental structure dominated by a handful of large fleets all differ from European practice, and manufacturers that succeed usually do so by adapting configurations rather than shipping the standard European specification. Terex says it intends to expand its footprint with product innovations tailored to local demand, which points to specification work rather than simply more sales effort.
What is already on the ground
Terex notes that hammerhead, flat top and luffing jib models from its range are already in service on projects across the region. The company gave no fleet numbers, but the breadth of the installed base is the basis on which it expects to build.
Maynard has spent more than 30 years with Terex in a range of leadership roles internationally.
“Lee’s deep expertise, built over more than 30 years with Terex across various leadership roles globally, ensures he is exceptionally equipped to lead this important initiative. His focus on sales leadership and strategic growth, combined with his global knowledge of the crane industry including North America, will be essential as Terex Tower Cranes continues to build on its legacy of excellence in the region.”
— Francesco Aiello, General Manager, Terex Tower Cranes
Maynard’s response
“I am excited to take on this expanded role and work alongside our talented team to drive growth and innovation. North America represents a dynamic and crucial market for Terex Tower Cranes, and I look forward to leveraging our strengths to meet the evolving needs of our customers and continue our leadership in the industry.”

The appointment came shortly after Francesco Aiello took over as general manager of the tower and self-erecting crane business, and forms part of the reorganisation he set out on taking the role. No separate regional sales structure or distributor changes were announced alongside it.
