Unic puts its URW-095 mini spider crane under the spotlight

At 600 mm wide and just under a tonne of capacity, the URW-095 remains Unic’s door-sized workhorse

Unic Cranes Europe has published a detailed profile of its URW-095 mini spider crane, a 995 kg capacity machine that folds to 600 mm wide to pass through a standard doorway – and brings the crane to loads that no other lifting equipment can reach.

The URW-095 was designed specifically for interior access. Folded, it measures 2,690 mm long by 600 mm wide and 1,375 mm high, slipping through doorways, corridors and side passages that stop most lifting equipment. Weighing from 1,850 kg depending on the fuel option, it is easily transported between sites, while its rubber tracks spread the load to a ground pressure of just 48 kPa – low enough to protect finished floors, lawns and paving. Optional low-marking tracks reduce scuffing further for showrooms, shopping centres and office fit-outs. The undercarriage travels at up to 2.3 km/h and climbs gradients of up to 20 degrees.

Full capacity to 3.5 m radius

With its outriggers at maximum extension the crane lifts its full 995 kg out to a 3.5 m radius. The five-section hexagonal boom telescopes from 2.53 m to 8.65 m, giving a maximum lifting height of 8.8 m and a working radius of 8.41 m; at full boom it still handles 550 kg at 3.8 m. The boom extends its 6.12 m stroke in around 20 seconds, derricks from 0 to 78 degrees in about 11 seconds and slews a continuous 360 degrees. The hook block can be rigged in one, two or four falls, and radio remote control is standard, so the operator stands wherever the view of the load is best.

A key selling point is the outrigger arrangement: each leg sets independently at multiple angles and extensions, letting the crane squeeze into tight corners or level itself on slopes and uneven ground, with rated loads published for every configuration.

Petrol, diesel or plug-in electric

Buyers choose between a Mitsubishi petrol engine – with optional LPG or mains-electric dual power – and a Kubota diesel with an electric option. The 3.7 kW, 400 V electric drive gives zero exhaust emissions and much quieter running for occupied buildings, hospitals and enclosed spaces, and on the petrol model it adds nothing to the machine’s length.

Every URW-095 carries Unic’s Lift-Smart safety system, whose patented turnover protection monitors stability throughout the lift and warns the operator by lamp and alarm before limits are approached. A computer-controlled voice warning, load indication, overwinding alarm and automatic hook stow are standard; the crane should not work in winds above 36 km/h.

From glazing to hot tubs

Optional attachments tackle lifts under soffits and canopies: a 1.5 m fly jib raises maximum lifting height to 9.8 m, while a searcher hook stretches it to 10.47 m. Typical duties range from glass and curtain-wall installation – often with a vacuum lifter – through steel erection, roof trusses and plant-room equipment to landscaping jobs reached through garden side passages. The URW-095 is available for rental or purchase through the company’s dealer network across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
