Spierings eLift wins JDL d’Or 2026 for equipment electrification

The Dutch mobile tower crane manufacturer collected the award on 17 September. The JDL d’Or is presented each year at the JDL Expo, France’s lifting and transport trade fair, and for 2026 the organisers added an Equipment Electrification category to single out electrification advances in the lifting and transport sector. The first award in that category went to Spierings for eLift.

Electric lifting across the whole range

eLift is Spierings’ system for electric operation of its mobile tower cranes. The company introduced its first eLift crane in 2020 and has since developed the technology to the point where it is available across the entire Spierings range.

With eLift, a crane can carry out lifting operations fully electrically wherever a grid connection of 16A or more is available on site. When there is not enough grid power, the system offers several modes that cut fuel consumption and emissions substantially compared with conventional diesel operation.

Proven on French jobsites

The recognition comes from a market where the technology is gaining ground. French crane rental companies including Mediaco, Foselev, Cochez Groupe, Alsace Levage Manutention and HR Levage have all added Spierings eLift cranes to their fleets, putting the electric mobile tower cranes to work on everyday lifting projects rather than showcase jobs.

For Spierings, winning the award on French soil underlines that electrification has moved from development promise to daily practice in one of its key export markets.

Part of the Mission to Zero-Emission

The manufacturer frames the award as confirmation of its Mission to Zero-Emission strategy, which aims to make zero-emission lifting workable in day-to-day crane operation without sacrificing performance, flexibility or ease of use. Spierings says the prize honours both the engineering behind eLift and the customers who have taken the electric cranes into their fleets and onto their jobsites.
